Dredging & Excavation

Sedimentation is one of the most persistent challenges facing hydropower dams. Over time, silt, sand and debris accumulate in reservoirs and intake structures, reducing water storage capacity, restricting flow and diminishing overall energy generation efficiency. Left unaddressed, sediment buildup can lead to costly downtime, increased wear on turbines and even structural risk.

DCN operates and has supplied a range of sediment removal dredgers varying from Suction dredgers, Airlift Dredgers, Vacuum/Vortex dredge pumps and diver friendly submerged dredge pumps. We understand that the execution of dredging works are often needed before we reach the core of the works. By adding these services to our portfolio we take one step closer to providing you the full package needed for your project.

Enguri Dam Georgia

At the Enguri Dam in Georgia, we delivered a complete turnkey dredging solution, including engineering, supply, installation, execution, and training.

Operating at 200 m depth, a submerged DOP pump with LP waterjets removed 250,000 m³ of sediment, transported through a U-shaped discharge pipeline (200 m vertical subsea, 500 m horizontal, 100 m subsea).

Powered by 2,000 kW via a 10 kV high-voltage supply, the system ensured reliable deep-water performance, with an orange peel grab and split barge available as contingency.
