Hyperbaric Welding Project Japan 2018

NSENGI (Main Contractor) was contracted by TOA Oil (Operator/Client)
to replace KKSB Pipeline PLEM.

DCN was contracted by Fugro (Diving Subcontractor) to conduct the
following Scope:

  • All Welding and Habitat installation related engineering
  • Providing Hyperbaric Welding
  • Spread and Hyperbaric Welding Team
  • WPQT in Hyperbaric Welding Centre Bergen op Zoom
  • Conduct the Production Weld Subsea

Project Background

The TOA Oil PLEM, connected to an SBM, was damaged by anchor drag and taken out of service. The damaged PLEM was later removed by a contractor. The existing pipeline, originally installed in 1969, showed limited signs of wear but remained suitable for repair.

The repair location was at a water depth of approximately 34 metres. The seabed was prepared to allow safe installation of the habitat and sufficient access to carry out the required welding and installation works.
