NSENGI (Main Contractor) was contracted by TOA Oil (Operator/Client)
to replace KKSB Pipeline PLEM.
DCN was contracted by Fugro (Diving Subcontractor) to conduct the
following Scope:
The TOA Oil PLEM, connected to an SBM, was damaged by anchor drag and taken out of service. The damaged PLEM was later removed by a contractor. The existing pipeline, originally installed in 1969, showed limited signs of wear but remained suitable for repair.
The repair location was at a water depth of approximately 34 metres. The seabed was prepared to allow safe installation of the habitat and sufficient access to carry out the required welding and installation works.
DCN restored the pipeline connection by installing a new pup piece between the existing pipeline and the new PLEM. A 40-inch Pup-Piece was welded to the existing pipeline, after which a flanged connection was made to the PLEM.
To safely execute the works, a habitat was deployed over the pipeline, creating a controlled environment for welding. The habitat was installed, sealed and dewatered before final alignment and welding of the pup piece. After successful inspection and acceptance of the weld, the habitat was recovered to deck, completing the operation.
